Dragon of the Week: Kavounov and Shannon

PHILADELPHIA – Anastasia Kavounov and Jack Shannon named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopaedics, for the week of September 16th–22nd.

Anastasia Kavounov, a member of the women's tennis team, went unbeaten in both singles and doubles at the Saint Joseph's Invitational. The sophomore posted four singles victories, including a three-set comeback against Rider's Claudia Brown, and teamed with Rebecca Fiedler for three doubles wins. The sophomore finished the weekend a combined 7-0.

Jack Shannon, a member of the men's soccer team, contributed on both ends of the field in Drexel's two matches last week. The freshman scored his first collegiate goal in a 3-3 draw against Penn, then added two assists in a 2-0 shutout of Stony Brook while playing all 180 minutes across the week. The Houston, Texas native was named CAA Rookie of the Week for his performance.
