Drexel Captures Third Straight Temple Invitational

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – The Drexel golf team captured its third straight Temple Invitational title on Tuesday afternoon at the 1912 Club after winning a tiebreaker with Lehigh and La Salle. The Dragons entered the day in sole possession of first place and held firm at first throughout the third round of the tournament to win its first victory of the season. The tiebreaker was decided by each team's fifth player's score in the third round. Drexel's fifth golfer, John Stevenson, finished his 18-hole round 4-over-par 74 to defeat Lehigh's score of 75 and La Salle's score of 78.

Drexel finished the third round shooting a 12-over-par 292 as a team. Jake Haberstumpf finished third in the field, shooting 2-over par (212) in the three day event, while Caleb Taylor was right behind, shooting 3-over-par (213). Thomas Young pieced together the best round for Drexel on the day, shooting 2-over-par 72.

Drexel has a brief break before jumping back into action. The team travels to Westfield, N.J. on October 13 to play in the Georgetown Intercollegiate at Echo Lake Country Club, a 7,116 yard par 71 course.
