Bonnemark Wins Seventh Straight Swedish Championship

PHILADELPHIA – Over the winter break, Moa Bönnemark of the Drexel women's squash team won her seventh consecutive Swedish Championship gold medal, defeating Malin Frank in the final. The senior from Malmö, Sweden, entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed.
In the opening round, Bönnemark faced Intersquash's Hanna Sidvall and advanced to the quarterfinals with wins of 11-5, 11-2, and 11-4. She then defeated Isabella Wreber of the Stockholm Squash Club, 11-7, 11-2, and 11-6. In the semifinals, Bönnemark topped No. 4 seed Nathalie Malmström, winning 11-2, 11-7, and 11-8. In the final against No. 2 seed Frank from Linköping, Bönnemark claimed the title with 11-7, 11-8, and 11-3 victories.
"I think the win reflects the hard work I have put in over the past year," Bönnemark said. "It also showcased the improvement and knowledge I have gained since coming to Drexel. I am proud of myself and happy to see that all the hours of training have paid off."
The Drexel women's squash team returns to action on January 18 against No. 6 Virginia. Action from the Kline & Specter Squash Center is set for 11:30 a.m.
