PHILADELPHIA – Over 300 Drexel Student-Athletes, along with members of Drexel's Undergraduate Student Government Association, participated in Drexel Athletics' community cleanup event on January 19, 2026, as part of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Drexel Athletics partnered with over 25 different organizations from around the city to help with clean up efforts. Starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning, volunteers arrived at the Daskalakis Athletic Center for a welcome ceremony, including remarks from Assistant Athletics Director, Student-Athlete Development Peaches Brown, Vice Provost for University and Community Partnerships, Youngmoo Kim and Community Outreach Specialist Jeffrey Jordan. At 9 a.m. the volunteers boarded buses and went to their designated clean up destination.
"Community Clean-Up Day is about more than hours logged," Brown said. "It's about who we choose to be as Dragons. Today, over 300 students and student-athletes came together across indoor service sites throughout the city to lead, show up for our community, and serve alongside one another. This day is made possible through the collective efforts of our campus partners, coaches, and SAAC leaders, and reflects the power of collaboration in making a meaningful impact.
