Dragons Fall to Campbell, 62-51

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's basketball team was defeated by the Campbell Camels, 62-51, in the team's opening game of CAA play. The Dragons fall to 7-5 overall.
BY THE NUMBERS
Amaris Baker scored a game-high 22 points, making three long balls and going 5-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Molly Rullo finished the game with 12 points, four assists and three rebounds. It is the third time that the freshman has scored double-digits this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game didn't enter its first media timeout until a jump ball with 2:03 left in the quarter. Until that point, Camel had a six-point lead, 15-9. The Camels finished the quarter scoring three more points and holding Drexel scoreless to take a nine-point lead into the second frame.
Campbell added a point to its lead in the second quarter, outscoring Drexel 11-10. Baker scored half of Drexel's points with a field goal and three points from the free throw line. The Dragons managed to get to the charity stripe eight times in the second quarter. Campbell led at the half, 29-19.
Drexel outscored Campbell, 15-9, to start the third quarter, pulling within four of the Camels. After the media timeout, Campbell scored eight points and held Drexel to just five to carry a seven-point lead into the final frame. Baker paced Drexel with nine points in the third quarter, while Rullo scored eight and made two treys.
Campbell scored 16 points in the fourth quarter and held Drexel to 12. The Dragons were held to 20 percent from the field and 22 percent from long range. While Campbell shot 5-for-10 from the field.
