10/2/2026 7:00:00 PM | Field Hockey
PHILADELPHIA- The Dragons fell to CAA foe No.18 Monmouth on Friday afternoon in Philadelphia, 3-0. The Hawks scored all three goals in the second half. With the loss, DU falls to 7-3 on the year and 1-1 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS
The Dragons put both of their shots on net.
Monmouth edged Drexel in corners 6 to 1.
The Hawks outshot the Dragons 14 to 2.
Halle Geiger was a standout in the cage, recording six saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The 2025 CAA championship rematch began as a defense-focused game. Through the first half, both teams combined for one shot. Each team traded possessions, countered by excellent defense. The backline of Callen Todd, Ludy Holst, Nicole Enslin, and Kylah Kelly kept the Dragons level, not allowing Monmouth to get into an offensive rhythm and stopping numerous counterattacks from the Hawks.
After halftime, the Hawks would earn a penalty corner as Anna Moore would fire the ball into the cage to put Monmouth up 1-0. Drexel would keep their intensity up and counter as Pili Lemoine would take a shot on the other side of the field before it was stopped by the keeper. Halfway through the fourth quarter with the score still 1-0, the Hawks were awarded a penalty stroke. Milla Frye stepped up to take the stroke for Monmouth and placed the ball in the upper left corner, 2-0 Monmouth. The last goal for the Hawks would come just a minute later as a deflection would come to Claire Campen who took a dribble before placing the ball in the right corner.
UP NEXT
The Dragons will continue their homestand as they face Georgetown on Sunday, October 4th. The game is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
