BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Drexel men's basketball team dropped the first of their two-game road trip to the Campbell Camels, 81-60, Thursday night. Shane Blakeney led the team with 15 points. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker's Local 98 is once again the presenting sponsor of Drexel Men's Basketball.

Blakeney finished the night with five rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.

Josh Reed scored 14 points and rebounded the ball four times.

Garfield Turner had nine points and two rebounds.

The Dragons outblocked the Camels 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Blakeney and Eli Beard helped Drexel jump out to an early lead with an 11-5 run. Campbell cut the lead to three before a Victor Panov layup put the Dragons ahead 13-8 with 15:50 left in the first. Blakeney and Turner then led a 7-3 run to make it 20-13 with 12:54 to go in the half. Campbell fought back, once again cutting the lead to three, before a Josh Reed layup with 10:34 remaining extended the lead to five. The two teams then traded baskets, but neither could pull away. A Camel layup with 3:25 left cut the lead to one, but back-to-back layups from Turner pushed the Dragon's lead to 34-29 at the 2:15 mark. Campbell finished the half with a 10-2 run to lead 39-36 at the half.

The Camels carried that momentum into the second half, starting the frame with a 10-2 run. A Blakeney dunk at 15:47 cut the lead to 11 before a 12-2 run from Campbell made it a 21-point game with just over eight minutes to play. Free throws from Reed and Dillon Tingler, as well as a layup from Kevon Vanderhorst, cut the lead down to 66-48. Baskets from Reed and Blakeney made it a 17-point game with 5:34 left. The Camels extended their lead to 22 before back-to-back baskets from Reed made it 74-56 with 3:13 remaining. Campbell ended the game on a 7-4 run.

Drexel's bench outscored Campbell's 31-9 on the evening.
