O’Neill Named Dean Ehlers Award Recipient; Two Other Dragons Receive Postseason Nods

PHILADELPHIA – Grace O'Neill was named the CAA's Dean Ehlers award recipient in the conference's 2026 postseason awards. Amaris Baker and Laine McGurk also each earned a spot on the conference's All-CAA teams. Baker was named to the All-CAA First Team, while McGurk earned a spot on the All-CAA Second Team.
O'Neill is the eighth Dragon to win the major award in program history, joining a list that includes Hannah Nihill (2021), Kelsi Lidge (2018), Meghan Creighton (2016), Hollie Mershon (2013), Gabriela Marginean (2010), Andrea Peterson (2009) and Michelle Maslowski (2002). The award is granted to a student athlete who embodies the highest standards of leadership, integrity and sportsmanship in conjunction with her academic and athletic achievement. While O'Neill has made her mark on the court, playing for Drexel all four years of her career and being the first player in program history with 600 points, 600 rebounds and 350 assists, along with being in Drexel's top 10 in assists, Grace's extra-curricular work include the Assisting Others campaign, along with working with the Special Olympics.
Baker finished the regular season campaign scoring 19.2 points per game, which ranked second in the conference and 28th in the country. The graduate student led the Dragons with field goal this season with 207, which is a career high. It is the second time that the graduate student was named to the All-CAA First Team in her career.
McGurk picked up her first postseason nod in her career by being named to the All-CAA Second Team. The junior finished the year averaging 13.1 points per game and shooting the seventh-highest field goal percentage in the conference at 42%. The West Chester native has doubled her career-high point production of 185 points, scored her freshman year. This season, McGurk has scored 379 points.
The Dragons are set for the CAA Tournament. After finishing the regular season as a No. 3 seed with a 20-9 record overall and a 13-5 tab in conference play. The Dragons will get a double-bye and an automatic spot in the CAA Quarterfinals and will face the winner of the Elon Phoenix and Hampton Pirates game. Drexel will play on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
