McGurk Named CAA Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Laine McGurk of the Drexel women's basketball team has been named the Coastal Athletic Association's Player of the Week on Monday, following the junior's standout weekend for the Dragons.

McGurk started the weekend out with a 26-point performance in Drexel's victory against Northeastern on Friday afternoon. It was her second-best game of the season. The West Chester native shot 8-for-15 and was 4-for-6 from deep. McGurk also grabbed six rebounds and dished out two assists. On Sunday's home finale against North Carolina A&T, McGurk used a 14-point scoring outburst in the second half to help Drexel overcome a 14-point deficit and defeat the Aggies in overtime, 65-63. The junior finished the game with 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Drexel has two more regular season games to play this season. On Thursday, the Dragons travel to Hempstead, N.Y. to take on the Pride at 6 p.m. The regular season then wraps up on Saturday, March 7 as the Dragons take a brief trip to Towson to take on the Tigers at 2 p.m.
