Four Dragons Tabbed CSC Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Laine McGurk, Grace O'Neill, Julia Garcia Roig and Mariah Watkins of Drexel women's basketball have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, announced by the organization on Monday afternoon.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be of a sophomore academic standing or higher with a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve for their team.
McGurk played in and started in all 32 of Drexel's games this season. The junior averaged 12.8 points per game and doubled her career-high point production of 185 points, scored her freshman year. This season, McGurk scored 411 points. This is the first time in her career that she is receiving Academic All-District.
O'Neill capped off her Drexel career by averaging four points, four rebounds and four assists per game. The senior also started in all 32 games for Drexel and averaged the second—highest minutes per game on the team. Earlier this month, O'Neill was named the CAA's Dean Ehlers award recipient, making her the eighth Dragon to win the award in program history. This is the third time that O'Neill has been named to the CSC Academic All-District team.
Garcia-Roig appeared in all 32 games for Drexel and chipped in 3.3 points per game and 2.2 assists per game. The junior transfer also grabbed 1.3 rebounds per game this season. It is her first time receiving the academic recognition at Drexel.
Watkins capped her sophomore year by playing in all 32 games and starting in four contests. Averaging, 20.3 minutes per game, averaged 3.6 points per game and 4.3 rebounds. It is also the first time Watkins is receiving the CSC award.
