BOSTON, MA – Drexel men's basketball head coach Zach Spiker has been named as a finalist for CollegeInsider.com's 2025-26 Skip Prosser Man of the Year award. The award is presented annually to the Division I coach who wins with integrity on and off the court.
The Skip Prosser Man of the Year award honors those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity on and off it as well.
Coach Spiker has been involved in the West Philadelphia community since he arrived on campus. He was named the 2021 Lindy Center for Civic Engagement Award winner. He was given the Staff Award for Campus and Community Engagement by the Lindy Center and became the only Drexel coach to win the award. It goes to one staff member each year that exhibits the tenets of good campus or community partnership in their efforts regardless of their university role. Spiker has been a vocal supporter of and helped raise funds for the creation of the Center for Black Culture. Coach Spiker previously won the Skip Prosser Man of the Year award in 2016, while at Army West Point.
After being projected to finish tenth in the CAA and starting 0-3 in conference play, Coach Spiker guided the Dragons to the fifth seed.
The award is named in honor of late Wake Forest head coach Skip Prosser, who embodied those same values throughout his career. In six years with the Deacons, Prosser posted a 126-68 record. For his career, he was 291-146 in 14 seasons including six as the head coach at Xavier and one year at Loyola (Md.). At Wake Forest, Prosser's teams averaged 21 wins per season while playing in arguably the nation's most difficult league, the Atlantic Coast Conference. Prosser won 100 games at an ACC school quicker than all but two coaches in the 55-year history of the conference. He coached NBA stars Chris Paul and Josh Howard, led the Demon Deacons to the first No. 1 national ranking in school history and earned ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2003.
The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.
The 2026 award will be announced in Indianapolis, IN, site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship.
The Dragons will face the winner of NC A&T and Northeastern's game Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
