PHILADELPHIA – Shane Blakeney of the Drexel men's basketball team has been named to the All-CAA Second Team and the CAA All-Defensive Team.
The Coastal Athletic Association unveiled its postseason men's basketball awards on Friday, ahead of the 2026 Air Force Reserve CAA Men's Basketball Championship beginning this afternoon in Washington, D.C. Voting was conducted in a poll of the CAA's 13 head coaches following the conclusion of the regular season. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players. Honorees will be recognized prior to their first game of the conference tournament, which will be played on March 6-10 at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C.
Blakeney capped a breakout senior season by leading Drexel in scoring with 14.5 points per game during the regular season, reaching double figures in 27 games, including tying his career-high 24 points against Colgate and Towson. The Rock Hill, S.C. native started every game for the Dragons, averaging five rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 42.4 percent from the field.
He dominated opponents on the defensive side of the floor, holding his coverage assignments to just 38.6 percent shooting from the field, nearly 11 points below the CAA average of 49.4 percent, while limiting opponents to 25 percent from three-point range in conference assignments. Blakeney accumulated 35 steals and 21 blocks on the season while maintaining one of the lowest foul rates in the conference, generating consistent defensive disruption without sacrificing discipline.
Blakeney will be honored before the Dragon's first game on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets for the game can be purchased here.
