Women’s Rowing Advances Three Boats to Grand Finals at Knecht Cup

CHERRY HILL, N.J. — The Drexel women's rowing team advanced three boats to the Grand Final at the Knecht Cup Regatta on Saturday. The 3rd Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+ and 2nd Varsity 4+ will all race for gold on the Cooper River on Sunday. The 2nd Varsity 8+ finished second in their heat and will race in the semi-final tomorrow.

After taking the top spot in their heat, the Varsity 4+ finished second in the semi-final race. The team of Katie O'Donnell (Coxswain), Michaela Werber (Stroke), Hazel Danko, Olivia Duffy and River Trotter (Bow) rowed Laura Ludwick White to a time of 7:40.41. The Dragons finished 3.25 seconds behind UMass.

The Second Varsity 4+ also took home the top spot in its heat, finishing 16 seconds ahead of second-place West Virginia. In the boat of Marci, Breanna Robles (Coxswain), Paige Hartshorn (Stroke), Giulia Nevrotski, Kari Prosperi and Emerson Donahue (Bow) crossed the line in 8:10.32.

The 3V8+ finished third in its heat with a time of 7:27.42 and advanced to the grand final, while the Second Varsity 8+ placed second in its heat, clocking in at 6:58.70.

The Varsity 8+ posted a time of 7:00.27 and will race in the Final 4.

Racing from the Cooper River will continue tomorrow at 7:44 a.m., starting with the Second Varsity 8+ semi-final.
