Andreopoulos and Gkelis Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Theo Andreopoulos and Dimi Gkelis of the Drexel men's swimming and diving team have been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, as announced by the organization.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be of a sophomore academic standing or higher with a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a key member of the team.
Andreopoulos was named CAA Swimmer of the Meet at the 2026 CAA Championships and qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200 back. He earned seven gold medals at the conference meet, winning the 50 free (19.60), 100 back (47.87), and 200 back (1:42.00), while contributing to first-place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:25.82), 200 free relay (1:18.17), 400 medley relay (3:08.14), and 400 free relay (2:52.00), which set a CAA record. Andreopoulos broke multiple school records and set a CAA record in the 200 back at the NCAA Championships with a time of 1:41.58. He finished among the top performers in the conference in total points for the season. The junior communications major holds a 3.53 GPA and was named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
Gkelis contributed to Drexel's relay success and finished seventh on the team in total points this season. He was part of the 400 medley relay that placed first at the CAA Championships with a time of 3:08.14. Individually, Gkelis placed fourth in the 100 back (47.50), ninth in the 200 back (1:45.61), and 10th in the 100 fly (48.47) at the conference meet. At the CSCAA National Invitational Championship, he recorded top-eight finishes in the 50 back (6th, 22.15) and 100 back (8th, 48.03). The junior marketing major holds a 3.51 GPA.
Theo Andreopoulos will now move on to the national Academic All-America ballot to be voted on by members of College Sports Communicators.
