College Park, Md. – Drexel Field Hockey earned its first victory of the year on Sunday afternoon, defeating James Madison, 1-0. The Dragons finish the opening weekend of the 2026 season with a 1-1 record.

BY THE NUMBERS
Drexel outshot James Madison 17-8, including a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal.

Nicole Enslin, Fleur Hamers, and Pili Lemoine all took two shots on net.

Lemoine's goal was her first of the season.

The Dragons held the advantage in penalty corners 6-4.

Halle Geiger recorded her first shutout of the year, marking her fourth of her career.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first quarter, Drexel started the scoring just 30 seconds into the second quarter. Hamers made a pass inside the circle to a cutting Lemoine, who put it in the back of the net to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead. The Dragons and Dukes took turns with chances on net in the following periods. However, no one could find the back of the cage. Geiger, a standout for the Dragons, made six saves on the day, keeping the Dukes scoreless en route to Drexel's first victory of the season.
