Cohen Shares Lead Through 36 Holes at John MacDonald Temple Invitational

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – Harry Cohen vaulted into a tie for first place after firing a second-round 66 to lead the Drexel men's golf team through 36 holes at the John MacDonald Temple Invitational on Monday at The 1912 Club. The Dragons sit seventh in the 12-team field with a team score of 31-over-par heading into Tuesday's final round.
"Today's result wasn't what we were hoping for," Head Golf Coach Scott Yurgalevicz said, "We knew The 1912 Club was going to play difficult. It always does, and the course was in fantastic shape. Unfortunately, we had an unexpected challenge when one of our veterans, John Stevenson, became ill and was unable to continue after nine holes. We're hopeful John will be feeling better and able to return tomorrow."
After opening the tournament with a 4-over-par 74, Cohen responded with one of the best rounds of the day, carding a 4-under-par 66 in the afternoon round. The sophomore transfer made the turn in 3-under 33 behind birdies on holes 1, 5 and 8, then added birdies on holes 12 and 13 on the back nine. Cohen enters the final round tied for the individual lead at 4-under-par.
"There were definitely positives to take away from the day," Yurgalevicz said. "Harry Cohen's 4-under-par 66 in the afternoon round was a game changer for us. He stuck to his game plan, managed the course extremely well and played with a lot of confidence. It was great to see him put together that kind of performance, and hopefully he can carry that momentum into the final round."
John Keba also sits inside the top 10 after rounds of 74 and 70. Keba's even-par second round featured birdies on holes 6, 9 and 13 as he moved to even par for the tournament, placing him in a tie for eighth.
Nathan Crawford shot rounds of 75 and 77 on Monday and is tied for 38th at 12-over par. Crawford highlighted his second round with birdies on holes 3, 13 and 15.
Matthew Normand posted scores of 76 and 79 through the first 36 holes and enters the final round tied for 45th overall.
Delaware leads the team standings at 15-over par, one stroke ahead of Lehigh. La Salle sits third at 19-over, while host Temple is fourth at 20-over.
The Dragons return to The 1912 Club on Tuesday for the tournament's final 18 holes, with Cohen looking to contend for the individual title.
