Moukarzel Wins Two Singles Matches as Men's Tennis Finishes Day One of the Farnsworth Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Drexel men's tennis team wrapped up Day One of the Farnsworth Invitational Friday afternoon.
The first round saw Anthony Moukarzel and Purdue's Liam Channon fall to Dartmouth's Dillon Beckles and Calvin Wang, 8-5. Later in the opening round, Moukarzel defeated Wang in a singles match, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.
Doubles play in the afternoon matches of the first round saw Tarek Mo Erlewein and Will Burridge defeat Princeton's Milan Markovits and Jordan Reznik, 8-6. Oskar Szymczak and Lun Obrul dropped a close 8-7 (3) match to Princeton's Aleksandar Mitric and Evan Wen.
During afternoon singles play, Obrul dropped his match to Wen, 6-4 and 6-2. Szymczak fell to Mitric, 6-2 and 6-1. Against Reznik, Burridge won 6-1 and 6-3. Erlewein dropped the first set against Markovits, 4-6, before winning the next two, 6-4 and 6-1. To wrap up Day One singles play, Moukarzel beat Malhar Patel in a thrilling match, falling in the first set 1-6 before winning the next two 7-6 (4) and 11-9.
During doubles play in the second round, Szymczak and Obrul defeated Adrian Treacy and Patel 8-1. Erlewein and Burridge topped Beckles and Wang, 8-4.
The Dragons will return to the court tomorrow for Day Two of the Farnsworth Invitational.
