Kristen Harris is entering her second year as an assistant coach for Drexel tennis. During the 2012-13 season she worked closely with head coach Mehdi Rhazali to help guide the men to a, 9-6 season, and the women, 9-7 overall. She also aided in Drexel tennis having the most CAA recognition in its history, with players receiving All-CAA first team singles, second team doubles, third team singles, and third team doubles.
She joined the Drexel tennis program as an assistant coach for her first season in 2012-13. Harris, a 2006 graduate of Howard University, has a wealth of experience as a tennis trainer and coach.
Harris has spent time alongside Drexel head coach Mehdi Rhazali at the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center as a professional tennis coach and community outreach coordinator, a position she still holds. She served in the implementation phase of various camps and clinics run by the center, and also coached in those events.
Prior to coming to Legacy, Harris had spent over four years as a coach at various stops around the State of Florida. Among them was a stint wiith Nick Saviano's High Performance Academy. She also spent time as a general student-athlete mentor at the University of Miami, and most recently served as a tennis professional at Central Park in Plantation, Fla. for four years.
In addition to her time in the athletic department at Miami, Harris also has experience as a college coach from her undergraduate career at Howard. There, Harris was appointed a student assistant coach, a role in which she served from 2004 until her graduation in 2006. She was involved in all aspects of the coaching profession, including scouting, compliance, scheduling and managing the team lineup.
A Philadelphia native, Harris was a nationally-ranked junior player during her prep years. She also worked locally at Team Riley, Inc. from 2006-07, teaching children and adults the fundamentals of tennis and working with collegiate and junior athletes to improve their games.
Harris now resides in Yeadon, Pa.
