Drexel University Athletics
The Walter Spiro Varsity Weight Room in the Daskalakis Athletic Center is the powerhouse training space for all varsity program athletes and staff. Covering over 5,000 sq ft. Roughly 3,500 sq ft is dedicated to free weights and lifting platforms. Along with a 1,500 sq ft multipurpose zone with rubber flooring for plyometrics, speed work, band exercises, battling ropes, and stability drills.
The weight room contains top-notch equipment from including:
Olympic platforms from Samson and Sorinex
Multiple power racks, cable machines, functional trainers
Benz shelving with kettlebells (15–100 lb), dumbbells (1–125 lb.), club bells, glute/ham machines, and more
Cardio Area with Woodway treadmills, Versa Climber, Aridyne and spin bikes, sideboards, upper-body ergometers, and more—equipped with HD TVs for athlete motivation.
The weight room is currently in the process of renovation, with plans in place for the end of the summer of 2025.
