Georgia State Tops Drexel, 2-0

Atlanta, Ga. — Georgia State scored off a penalty kick in the 48th minute and again with three minutes remaining in the match to notch its first Colonial Athletic Association victory of the season, 2-0. With the loss, the Dragons fall to 4-9-1 overall and 1-6-0 in the CAA. The Panthers improve to 4-9-3 and 1-5-1 in CAA play.
The Dragons kept the Panthers in check in the first half, with both teams going to the break scoreless. In the second half Georgia State got on the board when Amber Collins-Cephers converted a penalty kick that was beyond Drexel goalkeeper #Erica Lippitt#'s reach. The Panthers tallied an insurance goal from Kay Harbrueger to put away the game, 2-0.
Lippitt made eight saves in goal for the Dragons while Georgia State's Charlotte Vargo recorded three saves in the first half. Drexel's offense was led by senior #Stacey Blevins# who recorded two shots in the first half.
The Dragons travel to take on UNC Wilmington on Sunday, October 15 at 2:00 in another Colonial Athletic Association match before returning to Vidas Field on Friday, October 20, when they host Hofstra at 4:00.
