Philadelphia, Pa. — Marist tallied two goals in the first half and scored again with just under 11 minutes remaining in the game, to notch their first win of the season. With the loss, the Dragons are now 0-2 and Marist improved to 1-1.

Drexel senior Sherriann Steadman (Lanoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey Township) got off to a quick start, scoring the first goal of the game just 2:31 into the first half, off a pass from Drexel junior Aleka Yiantsos (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern). Marist responded at the 16:35 mark when freshman Alexandra Lauterborn set up fellow freshman Kate Fox for Marist's first goal of the game. Haley Hart sent a pass to Melanie Ondrejik whose shot was out of Drexel goalkeeper Erica Lippitt's (Marietta, Ga./Alan C. Pope) reach. The Ondrejik goal proved to be the game winner.

Both teams kept each other in check during the second half, until Marist's Katie Zasly got a hold of a free ball that brushed the fingertips of Drexel's Kaitlin Bond (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) and fell into the net in the 78th minute.

Lippitt finished with two saves in the first half and Bond, a CAA All-Rookie team member, tallied four during the second. Marist goalkeeper Caitlin Nazarchuk finished the night with two saves.

The Red Foxes outshot the Dragons 6-2 in the first half and 14-6 for the game. Steadman led the Dragons with one goal and a shot on goal, while Yiantsos recorded an assist and a shot on goal. Sophomores Maria Ferrato (Thorold, Ontario/Holy Cross) and Lauren Steins (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) and freshman Carly Snyder (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) also took shots for the Dragons.

The Dragons play their next two matches on the road. Drexel will face Rutgers on Saturday at 7 p.m. and will travel to Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, Sept. 8.
