Harrisonburg, Va. - Freshman #Martha Lutz# scored her first collegiate goal in the 84th minute off an assist by fellow freshman #Heatherrae Steadman# but it was not enough to bring Drexel (3-6-1, 0-3 CAA) from behind as James Madison claimed a 5-1 victory on their home turf, to even its record at 5-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in CAA play.
James Madison got on the board first, just under six minutes into the match on a goal by Sarah Cabulski from eight yards out. The Dukes followed it up with two more tallies by Julien Corky and Natalie Ewell before halftime to take a 3-0 lead at the break. The Dukes, who outshot Drexel 20-8, added another goal in the 78th minute when Annie Lowry put back the rebound off a free kick by Kimmy Germain. Lutz broke through for the Dragons' lone score of the contest. Lowry would return the favor, assisting on Germain's goal from 18 yards out for the final 5-1 score.
In goal for the Dragons #Kaitlin Bond# made eight saves in 76 minutes before being relieved by #Erica Lippett# who allowed the final two Dukes' goals. Diane Wszalek and Missy Reimert split the game for James Madison with Wszalek making two saves and Reimert stopping four.
