Women's Soccer Falls to VCU, 2-0

Philadelphia – VCU scored a pair of goals in the second half and defeated the Drexel women's soccer team, 2-0. The win improved the Rams record to 7-4-1 overall and 4-0 in the CAA. The Dragons, who fell to 4-5-2 and 0-3-1 in the CAA, had their four game home unbeaten streak snapped.
VCU's Stephanie Power scored off a free kick early in the second half for the Rams' first goal. Power put a shot past Drexel goalkeeper Kaitlin Bond (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) into the far upper corner in the 59th minute of play. In the 75th minute, the Rams added an insurance goal. Myrian Bouchard's feed sent teammate Jasmine Riley in on the left side. Riley made a move past the Drexel goalkeeper and fired it into the open net
The Rams outshot the Dragons, 18-3, in the contest. Rams' goalkeeper Emily Niman notched her eighth shutout of the year and had one save. Bond made six saves in a losing cause for the Dragons.
Drexel is off until next Friday when the team travels to Towson for a CAA match at 3 p.m.
