Newark, N.J.--Kim Chiarelli scored in the ninth minute and Drexel held the New Jersey Institute of Technology to just two shots as the Dragons defeated the Highlanders, 1-0. The Dragons extended their unbeaten streak to three games and improved their record to 3-2-1.
Chiarelli's shot went into the right corner after a cross from Aleka Yiantsos. It was the third assist of the year for Yiantsos and gave her 41 career points at Drexel. That tied the school mark for most career points with Katie Kane.
Kaitlin Bond posted her third straight shutout for Drexel. It was a defensive team effort as the Dragons did not need Bond to make any saves in the game. Bond extended her scoreless streak to more than 334 minutes.
Drexel returns home to face Wagner on Saturday afternoon.
