James Madison raced out to a big early lead and defeated Drexel, 5-0, in Harrisonburg on Sunday afternoon. It was the fifth straight win for the Dukes, while the Dragons suffered their seventh straight defeat.
The Dukes scored four times in the first half and went on to earn their ninth win of the year. The Dukes are now 9-3-2 overall and 5-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Drexel fell to 5-9 with the loss. The Dragons are still seeking their first CAA win of the season and are now 0-6 in league play.
Five different Dukes scored goals. Kaitlin Bond played the first half in goal for Drexel and had four saves. Nicole Sinclair relieved her in the second half and picked up a pair of saves and allowed just one JMU goal. The Dukes outshot Drexel, 17-6.
The Dragons return home for a pair of conference games next weekend. George Mason visits Vidas Field on Friday night, while the Towson Tigers are in town on Sunday afternoon.
