Crew Celebrates Boat Naming Ceremony with Big Finishes at Navy Day Regatta

Philadelphia - An historic day for Drexel Crew finished with eye-opening results for the Dragons' varsity eight boats at the Navy Day Regatta as the men's boat took second among 26 competitors while the women claimed third of 20. Earlier in the day, four boats were christened with names as The Vince Vidas, The Marlene Buckley, The Annette Pennoni and The Peggy Greenawalt made their debuts on the Schuylkill.

The men's varsity eight finished behind only Navy as the Dragons recorded a time of 12:31.15. The women's varsity eight boat's time of 14:18.73 was behind only Penn and Navy at the season-opening event.

The varsity eight boats were not the only Drexel entrants that grabbed headlines. The men's novice eight finished seventh of 20, the Dragons' men's top junior varsity eight finished second of 11 and the women's junior varsity eight finished third of 14.
