Golf Tops Two Philly Schools at Big Five Invitational

Flourtown, Pa. - The Drexel golf team completed play at the 2009 Big Five Invitational at the Philadelphia Cricket Club where the Dragons finished 15th of 17 teams. Drexel topped Saint Joseph's and La Salle as the Dragons shot a 620 for the two-round event. Campbell won the tournament while Penn took city honors.

Drexel finished the first round tied with Temple for best city score and eighth overall with a 304 after Kyle Davis shot a one-under par 70 for the first 18 holes. The senior's score was the second-best among all participants in the first round. Andrew Lawson also helped the Dragons to the big start with an opening-round 73. Drexel did not fare as well in the second round as the team posted a 316 to drop to 15th place. Davis finished with a two-round total of 152 while Steve Kidron improved two strokes on his first round score from a 78 to a 76. Lawson followed up his 73 with a second-round 81. Trevor Sahn and James Braunsberg each shot an opening round 83 while Sahn followed with a 79 while Braunsberg fired an 80.
