College Park, Md. - Drexel field hockey will meet defending national champion and top-ranked Maryland for a berth in the Final Four on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 2:00 p.m. The Dragons advanced to the round of eight with a 3-2 victory over No. 5 UConn while the undefeated Terrapins cruised past American, 6-1.
Kim Tunell scored two goals, including the game-winner, while Carolina Gibernau contributed a goal and two assists as the Dragons avenged a loss from earlier in the season to the Huskies. The win over the Big East champions moved Drexel's record to 19-3 on the season as the team extended its program record for victories in a season.
Maryland's Katie O'Donnell leads the Terrapins as she ranks second in the nation in points per game. She recorded two goals and three assists in the team's first round victory. Emma Thomas, the Terrapins' penalty corner specialist, connected on two scores against American. Maryland has won two of the last three national championships and owns a 4-0 all-time record against Drexel.
