Sacramento, Calif. - Drexel Crew completed an historic season with the men's varsity four's sixth-place finish in the petite finals at the IRA National Championships. Against the top collegiate crew programs in the nation, Drexel was once again in the mix throughout the most prestigious rowing event in men's crew.
The Dragons placed fourth in the preliminary heat on Thursday to move on the repechage races on Friday. Drexel outraced UC Irvine and UCSD in the repechage to claim a spot in the petite final. Last season Drexel sent a men's novice four boat to the IRA's and came home with a sixth-place finish in the grand finals.
Prior to the IRA National Championships, Drexel wowed many in the collegiate rowing community by placing five boats in the grand finals at the Dad Vail Regatta, the largest collegiate regatta in the country. Among the five boats, the Dragons were represented in the women's varsity eight and both the men's and women's novice eight. The women's varsity eight also won the Kelly Cup at the Bergen Cup Regatta in what is considered the Philadelphia city championship.
