Box Score
Philadelphia – St. Francis (Pa.) scored a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes and rallied to defeat Drexel, 2-1, in a non-conference match at Vidas Field. The loss dropped the Dragons record to 0-2 this season, while the Red Flash are now 1-1.
Jourdan Halasz got the Dragons on the board just under 12 minutes into the contest. The sophomore pounded home an errant clear attempt into the far left corner. Jenna Lindsay made a move on the end line and centered a pass, that was knocked away by a Red Flash defender, but picked up by Halasz, who scored for the first time in 2009.
The Red Flash tied it in the 81st minute. St. Francis picked up a loose ball on its own side of the field and raced forward on a three on two break. Rachel Seibert started the break and fed Tesa McKibben. The freshman shot the ball high over Drexel goalkeeper Nicole Sinclair into the back of the net to even the score at 1-1. Just five minutes later, Chelsea Traurig fired a shot past Sinclair after a scramble at the top left corner of the box.
Drexel outshot St. Francis, 11-9, in the game. Sinclair made three saves for the Dragons, while Jessica Boyer had two for the Red Flash.
The Dragons will return to action with a pair of matches next weekend. On Friday the team travels to Newark, N.J., to face the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The Dragons return home on Sunday against Mount St. Mary's.
