Box Score
Drexel scored early in the game and appeared to be headed to a victory, but New Jersey Tech scored a goal late in the game and another in the second overtime period to down the Dragons, 2-1.
In the second overtime, the Highlanders' Kori Washington beat Nicole Sinclair in the 106th minute to cap the comeback and give NJIT its first win of the season. It was the second-straight hearbreaker for the Dragons, who lost earlier in the week to St. Francis, 2-1, on a goal in the final minutes.
Drexel had its chances, outshooting the Highlanders, 18-10 in the game. The Dragons had perhaps their biggest opportunity of the night early in overtime, when Jenna Lindsay was awarded a penalty kick. However, NJIT's Sadie Mele made the save which kept the game tied at 1-1 and forced a second 10-minute extra session.
The Dragons opened the scoring early in the contest. Lindsay, who led the team with 10 goals a year ago, found the net for the first time in 2009 in the 13th minute. Lindsay broke in alone and scored from about 15 yards away to give the Dragons the lead. That would be the only goal of the half as Drexel took a 1-0 lead to the break.
It looked as though the Dragons would be able to hold on to the one-goal lead, but the Highlanders tied it up with under 10 minutes to play. NJIT had a corner kick and as Drexel tried to clear, Briana Morales picked up the loose ball and fired it past Sinclair to tie the game at one.
Sinclair recorded a career-high six saves in the match for the Dragons, who return to Philadelphia for a Sunday afternoon match against Mount St. Mary's at 1 p.m.
