Box Score
Philadelphia - Mount St. Mary's Sadie Winship caromed a shot off the upper far post and into the net midway through the second half as the Mountaineers defeated Drexel, 3-2, in a non-conference match at Vidas Field.
Winship's shot from just inside the box on the left side was lofted over Drexel keeper Nicole Sinclair. The ball bounced high off the post and back into the Drexel net to give the Mount the lead, 3-2. They would hang on the rest of the way as Mount St. Mary's keeper Alicia Miller recorded 12 saves. Her biggest save of the day came with less than a minute to play, as Drexel's Sydney Douglas broke in alone. Douglas appeared to have a good angle, but was thwarted by Miller.
Mount St. Mary's took the lead for the first time in the 58th minute of play. The Mount's Meghamn Brennan popped a pass over a Drexel defender and Emily Menotti took it off the bounce and placed it in the lower left corner. That lead didn't last long as the Dragons answered to tie it. Freshmen Alex Vazques and Juliana Speroni assisted on the game-tying goal by Jenna Lindsay. Lindsay went by a defender and fired a shot with her left foot into the net to make it 2-2.
Drexel got on the board for the first time in the 18th minute. Michelle Donnelly, who entered the game just seconds before, scored her first goal of the season. The junior picked up a header from a Mountaineers' player after a Drexel corner kick and beat Alicia Miller to put the Dragons on the board first for the third-straight game. However, Mount St. Mary's tied the score with just under three minutes to play in the half. Breana Warakasa fed Kim Karpinski, who fired a shot from just inside the box over an outstretched Nicole Sinclair. The teams went to the break tied at 1-1.
Drexel outshot Mount St. Mary's, 20-13, and 12-7 in the second half. Sinclair finished with four saves for the Dragons, who return to action on Friday afternoon night when Big-East foe Pittsburgh comes to Vidas Field.
