Lafayette Edges Women's Soccer in Second Overtime, 2-1

Lafayette's Bridget Becker scored early in the second overtime period as the Leopards defeated Drexel, 2-1. The Dragons held a 1-0 lead late, but Lafayette forced overtime with a late goal and won it just three minutes into the second extra frame.
The teams played to a scoreless tie through 45 minutes. Drexel (1-5) finally broke the scoring drought in the 51st minute when a pair of freshmen combined to give the Dragons a one-goal lead. Juliana Speroni scored her second goal of the season after being set up by Alex Vazquez. That goal stood up until the 83rd minute, when Lafayette's (2-4) Olivia Hawes tied it up. It was the fourth time in the last five matches that Drexel's opponent was able to come back and tie the game in the final 10 minutes.
Drexel was outshot in the match, 14-12, but had 13 corner kicks, to six for the Leopards. Nicole Sinclair made five saves in goal for Drexel. Lauren Smedley made seven saves and earned the win for Lafayette.
Drexel has a week off before returning to game action. The Dragons host Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday at Vidas Field. Kick off is set for 1 p.m.
