Men's Soccer Renews Regional Rivalry With Delaware Tonight

Philadelphia - Drexel men's soccer makes the annual trek down Route 95 today to play the 59th installment in its rivalry with the Delaware Blue Hens (2-7-1, 1-3-0). The Dragons (6-4-1, 2-2-0) are hoping to bring a bit of the momentum garnered last week in a pair of CAA wins into tonight's affair in Newark, Del. Led by CAA Co-Player of the Week Nate Baker and Rookie of the Week Ken Tribbett, the Dragons will take the pitch at 7:00 p.m. tonight at Delaware's Mini Stadium. Tribbett and Baker led an eight-goal onslought by the Dragons last week. Both players scored twice and had an assist on the week. Baker contributed a goal and a helper against George Mason in the Dragons' 4-1 win at home last Wednesday, while Tribbet scored both of his markers against Towson in a 4-3 shootout victory. Malcolm LeBourne and Nathan Page also scored twice during the week to help the Dragons even their record at 2-2 in the CAA while improving to 6-4-1 overall.
Delaware is coming off a pair of losses to Northeastern (3-1) and James Madison (4-1) last week. The Blue Hens are 2-7-1 on the season and 1-3-0 in conference play. Their lone win was a 1-0 shutout of Old Dominion on Oct. 2, showing the Hens clearly have the ability to challenge quality opponents. Evans Frimpong is the team's leader in scoring with three goals and an assist on the season. He also ranks third in the CAA in shots per game at 3.78 netward strikes per match.
Drexel's series with Delaware is its longest standing rivalry in men's soccer. It dates back to 1947 and the Dragons hold a 35-17 lead in the all-time series with six draws against the Blue Hens.
