Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Defeated at La Salle

Philadelphia - Drexel Swimming & Diving traveled to nearby La Salle where the men's team dropped a 186-114 decision while the women fell, 174-120. Both the Drexel men and women dropped to 1-1 on the season. On the men's side Doga Celik and Sherif Madkour won multiple events while Jenna Seitz continued her impressive freshman campaign with a pair of victories for the women. Drexel divers also swept first place in all events.
The Dragons picked up their first victory of the day in the 200 men's free when Celik won by nearly two full seconds as he finished with a 1:43.47 while La Salle's Cameron Cabrera took second with a 1:45.45. Madkour was the next Drexel swimmer to touch first as he took the 100 breasy by 0.20 seconds with a 58.53. The women got their first triumph of the meet when Seitz cruised in the 200 fly with a 2:11.51 while second-place Aubrey Cefalo of La Salle finished at 2:15.31. Celik picked up his second victory of the day when he ripped through the field in the 100 free with a time of 46.39 while second-place David Derr of La Salle took a 48.21. Gizem Yali won the women's 200 back with a 2:09.52, more than a second and a half better than La Salle's second-place finisher. Madkour then became the Dragons' second two-time winner when he swept the breast events with a 2:07.37 in the 200. The Dragons picked up a boost in team points with a one-two finish in the 100 fly as Claire Keithly and Seitz posted times of 1:00.36 and 1:00.46, respectively. Seitz continued her big day as she won the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.16.
In diving action, sophomore Megan Halicek dominated her two La Salle opponents as she posted a 299.10 in the 1-meter and a 319.13 on the 3-meter board. On the men's side, Ian Jevnick recorded a 320.25 on the 1-meter board and a 325.73 on the 3-meter to win both events handily.
