Dragons' Divers and 400 Free Relay Teams Lead Squads at Loyola Invitational.

Loyola, Md. - Divers Megan Halicek and Ian Jevnick swept the diving events while both the men and women closed the meet with victories in the 400 free relay at the 2010 Loyola Invitational. The Dragons competed against Seton Hall, Lafayette and host Loyola. Both the men and women defeated Lafayette but lost to Seton Hall and Loyola. The men picked up a 207-87 win over the Leopards but were on the short end of 174-122 and 200.5-99.5 decisions to Seton Hall and Loyola, respectively. The women toppled the Leopards, 158-140, while falling to the Pirates, 190-108, and the Greyhounds, 182.5-115.5.
Jessica Csakai was impressive in picking up the team's first overall victory of the meet. In the 1000 free, Csakai posted a time of 10:41.06 to defeat second-place finisher Brenna O'Keefe of Seton Hall who was more than 11 seconds behind Csakai at 10:52.21. Csakai followed it up with a second-place posting in the 200 free behind only a Loyola swimmer with a time of 1:57.63 before another second in the 500 free. Lauren Faykes also picked up a second-place finish jin the 200 fly with her time of 2:10.58 besting all swimmers from Loyola and Lafayette but her most impressive performance came later when she took second in the 100 fly as she established the third-fastest time in the event in school history. Senior Matt Tannenbaum tied for first place as he finished in a dead heat with Jeffrey Row of Loyola as each registered a 21.87. Doga Celik also picked up a win in a free event as the sophomore won the 100 with a time of 46.76. Celik also took second place in the 100 fly with a time of 52.14. Gizem Yali lowered her mark in the 200 back as she posted a 2:09.06 to take second place and establish a new fifth-fastest time in school history.
The Drexel 400 free relay team of Faykes, Devina Tyagi, Csakai and Maria Coman were impressive in the final event as the foursome won by more than three seconds over second-place Loyola. Drexel's time of 3:40.14 was more than 11 seconds better than any Seton Hall entrant. The men's triumph in the event was by a much closer margin as Tannenbaum, Jesse McGrath, Alex Bagshaw and Celik clocked a 3:12.09 to best Loyola by 0.37 seconds.
On the boards, Halicek took the 1-meter event with a score of 297.30 while topping second-place Brittany Hervey of Seton Hall by more than 51 points. Hervey again finished second to Halicek as the sophomore won by more than 74 points this time with a total of 286.43. Jevnick was just as impressive as he took both boards while sophomore Stephen Cal finished behind only Jevnick in both events. On the 1-meter, Jevnick totaled a 294.15 while Cal took a 228.50 before Jevnick posted a 298.15 and Cal registered a 246.50 in the 3-meter.
