Philadelphia - Following a 4-1 romp over George Mason, Drexel men's soccer will travel to play at Towson on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Dragons (5-4-1, 1-2 CAA) will try to maintain the offensive continuity that saw them explode for four second-half goals in their first CAA win of the season. The Tigers (7-1-1, 1-1-1 CAA) are coming off a 2-0 victory over Hofstra on Wednesday.
Sophomore Malcolm LeBourne electrified the Vidas Field pitch in the opening minutes of the second half on Wednesday, scoring twice for the Dragons in a matter of three minutes. Senior forward Nate Baker added a goal and an assist to help put the Patriots to rout.
Led by senior midfielder Marco Mangione's seven goals and six assists, the Tigers bowled through their non-conference slate without a loss. Mangione scored both Tigers goals in their first CAA victory, a 2-0 shutout of Hofstra. Rookie keeper Angelo Viteritti posted his first collegiate clean sheet by making three saves in the win.
Sunday's match will be the 33rd meeting between the regional rivals. Drexel leads the all-time series 17-13-3 and the Dragons have won three of the last four meetings, with the sole loss coming in the semifinals of the 2007 CAA Tournament. Last year Drexel won a 6-5 overtime shootout over Towson. Andrew Goldberg and Fabio Assumpcao score two goals apiece and Nathan Page put in the game-winner with 4:17 remaining in overtime.
