
Swimming and Diving Falls to Binghamton

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Drexel men's and women's swimming & diving team both suffered losses in their home meet against Binghamton on Saturday. Despite a number of strong individual performances, the women's team was dropped a 172.5-125.5 loss to the Bearcats and the men were defeated 168.5-129.5. This drops both teams to 2-5 on the season.
The Drexel women opened the meet with a victory in the 200 yard medley relay. Jess Csakai won three events on the day, two of which, the 1,000 freestyle (10:44.43) and the 200 freestyle (1:57.64), were back to back events. Senior Maria Coman and freshman Gizem Yali also had wins for the Dragons.
On the men's side, Greg Oprendek was secured large wins in both the 100 (59.18) and 200 (2:10.82) backstroke events, beating his closest opponent by nearly three seconds and six seconds respectively. Senior Matthew Tannenbaum won the 50 freestyle (21.74), while teammates Doga Celik and Zorbey Canturk also secured wins in their events.
The Drexel divers were very successful in this meet, with Megan Halicek for the women and Ian Jevnick for the men winning first place in both the 1 meter and 3 meter competitions.
The Dragons look to improve their record when they next compete in the Terrier Invitational, which will be held in Boston, Mass. on Nov. 19-20.
