Drexel Wrestling to Cap Home Season with Duals Against Columbia and Rider

Philadelphia - The Drexel Wrestling team will host Columbia and Rider in the Dragons' final appearance of the season at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The meets will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13 with Drexel taking on the Lions at 5:00 p.m. before facing Colonial Athletic Association rival Rider at 7:30 p.m. Prior to the match with Rider, Scott Hunter, Brett McCurdy and Steve Mytych will be honored as part of Senior Day festivities.
Drexel wrestling will enter the duals with Columbia and Rider with an 8-10 overall record and a 3-2 mark in the CAA. The Dragons will face a feisty Columbia squad that has faced three Colonial Athletic Association opponents prior to facing Drexel. The Lions defeated Sacred Heart, 41-3, and George Mason, 27-11, while falling to Binghamton, 30-14 in Columbia's most recent match on Feb. 6. Kyle Gilchrist leads the team with a 21-8 record while Kevin Lester is the Lions' leader with five wins by fall.
Rider is 2-1 in the CAA with wins over Binghamton and George Mason. The Broncs boast the top-ranked 149 and 197-pound wrestlers along with the top ranked heavyweight. Key match-ups for Drexel in the dual could be at 133 pounds where the top two ranked wrestlers will face-off as Steve Mytych (26-6) meets Jim Kirchner (15-8). Reigning CAA Co-Rookie of the Week Joe Booth (17-5) will face Zac Cibula (15-9) in a meeting of the third and fourth ranked 157-pounders. Tough match-ups are also expected at 174 pounds where fourth-ranked Jim Resnick faces fifth-ranked Dave Woodall and 184 pounds where fourth-ranked Justin Wieller faces fifth-ranked Mike Ward. In a rematch of last year's CAA Championship finals, top-ranked Eddie Bordas (24-7) will face second-ranked Kyle Frey (26-7).
