Philadelphia - After a week off due to record snowfalls, the Drexel men's and women's tennis teams will return to the court this weekend in a dual match on the road at St. Peter's. Both teams are coming off season-opening losses to Penn in January and will be looking to bounce back in Jersey City when they take the court at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14.
The Drexel women are 3-2 on the season entering this weekend's contest. Sophomore Elise Leizerovich has been the team's leader in singles play this season. She leads the team in matchplay victories and was the only Dragon to win a match on the singles side against the Quakers. At first doubles Drexel's duo of Emma Brook and Zineb Hilali is looking to continue the strong play that saw them win against Penn.
The men are 3-1 overall this season following their 6-1 loss to the Quakers. Sophomore Bryan Nguyen produced the team's lone victory against Penn, at fifth singles in a three-set thriller. Necomer Nikoloz Kurdadze also turned in a strong showing against the Quakers, but came up just short at second singles.
St. Peter's men's team is 4-3 on the season after a dual match win against Bryant last Sunday at home. The Peacocks have also bested Wagner, Rider and La Salle on the season. On the women's side, St. Peter's owns a 1-7 record and the Peahens have lost three straight against NJIT, Bryant and Seton Hall coming into the weekend.
