Philadelphia - When the Minnesota Lynx take the court for their regular-season opener against the Tulsa Shock on Saturday, May 15, Drexel's Gabriela Marginean will be on the squad and primed to make her WNBA debut. The Dragons' all-time leading scorer, and Minnesota's third-round draft pick, proved herself during three weeks of preseason try-outs, including three exhibition games, and earned a place on the team's roster for opening day.
Marginean scored in double figures in two of the Lynx's three preseason exhibition games and led the team with nine rebounds in its first competition. She is one of two rookies on the opening-day roster, with the other being first-round draft pick Monica Wright from the University of Virginia.
Marginean will be donning the number 44 jersey for Minnesota, the number which she wore during her time at Drexel and now adorns the Daskalakis Athletic Center rafters in her honor.
Minnesota will be on the road to open the season on Saturday, facing Tulsa at 7:00 p.m. before playing in their home opener on Sunday, May 16 against the Washington Mystics at 6:00 p.m.
