Women's Soccer Drops CAA Opener at Georgia State, 2-0

The Drexel women's soccer team outshout Georgia State, 19-8, but the Panthers scored two times in the first half and held on to defeat the Dragons, 2-0. Georgia State improved to 7-2-1, while Drexel fell to 4-5.
The game was scoreless until the 29th minute when Georgia State got on the board. Apryl Goodwin scored after a free kick to give GSU the lead, one which it would never relinquish. Seven minutes later, the Panthers made it a 2-0 game when a Bri Cagle shot deflected off a defender. It would be all the scoring in the game. Drexel outshot the Panthers, 8-4, in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, Victoria Troccoli took over in goal and made three saves to keep the Dragons close. Nicole Sinclair was Drexel's starter and had a pair of saves. Drexel fired 11 shots in the second half, but were unable to beat GSU keepers Heidi Blankenship and Kelianne Collins. They combined to make six saves.
The Dragons will be back in action on Sunday at UNC Wilmington.
