Gerald Colds made seven three-pointers in the loss at William & Mary

Williamsburg – William & Mary shot a blistering 77 percent in the second half and defeated the Dragons in Kaplan Arena, 80-66. Gerald Colds led the Dragons with a career-high 22 points and made seven three-pointers in the loss.
The Tribe (5-12, 1-5 CAA) led by just four at 39-35 after a Gerald Colds three-pointer, but took a double-digit lead moments later after scoring nine straight points. The lead increased to as many as 16 points in the second half when Marcus Kitts scored on a lay-in with just over nine minutes remaining in the game. Drexel (11-5, 3-3 CAA) was unable to get close the rest of the way as the Tribe drained 80 percent of its free throws in the second half to seal the win.
Brandon Britt, who entered the game averaging just over seven points, led the Tribe with a career-high 25 points. He was 11-for-12 from the line. Quinn McDowell added 23 points, including seven in first three and a half minutes of the second half, added 23 points. The Tribe became only the second team to outrebound Drexel this season.
William & Mary was hot in the early stages of the game and opened up a 9-0 lead. Drexel finally got on the board when Colds nailed a three-pointer at the 15:47 mark. The Tribe led for most of the first half until Chris Fouch drove the lane and scored on a contested lay-in with just 1:22 left. William & Mary answered with five straight points, but Drexel closed the half with a Colds' three-pointer at the buzzer to make it a 31-30 William & Mary lead. Colds made seven three-pointers in only nine attempts, eclipsing his personal mark of six treys set in his first collegiate game. Chris Fouch chipped in with 13 points, but was just 6-for-21 from the field and did not make a three-pointer in five attempts.
The Dragons are back on the road early next week. Drexel will play at George Mason on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. in a game that can be seen on MASN. Mason is 4-2 in the CAA and 12-5 overall.
