Drexel Field Hockey Hosts No. 1 Old Dominion on Sunday at Buckley Field

Philadelphia – The Drexel women's field hockey team faces the nation's top competitor and CAA foe, Old Dominion, on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at Buckley Field. The Dragons enter the contest 9-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play after an exciting 2-1 victory over William and Mary on Friday night. The Dragons are 7-1 at home.
Old Dominion leads the all-time series 8-3. Last season, Ashley Santee scored with less than 13 minutes remaining to break a 2-2 tie and send No. 20 Drexel past No. 19 Old Dominion, 3-2. The Lady Monarchs outshot the Dragons, 15-12, and earned 10 penalty corners to the Dragons' three. The win pushed Drexel into first place in the CAA.
No. 1 Old Dominion continues to lead the national polls with an unblemished 13-0 record. The Lady Monarchs defeated eight top 20 field hockey programs, including previous leaders Maryland and North Carolina. Senior forward Emma Batten leads the team in goals, while freshman Kelsey Smither holds the most assists. Senior goalkeeper Devon Seifer has made 23 saves on the season.
