Women's Novice Eight Places Second at Murphy Cup

Philadelphia - Drexel's women's novice eight claimed second at the Murphy Cup on the Schuylkill River. The Dragons' top boat finished behind city-rival Saint Joseph's in the final. In addition to the novice eight, the women's varsity four, varsity eight and junior varsity eight also earned the final berths after fine performances in the preliminary heats.
The women's novice eight, in the Anna Marie with coxswain Kerry Walsh, stroke Amanda O'Malley, Colleen Delany, Sarah Mackenzie, Elizabeth Daugherty, Alyssa Leahy, Shannon O'Donnell and bow Jackie Bender placed second behind Villanova with a time of 7:02.76. In the finals, the Dragons' finished second behind Saint Joseph's with a time of 7:05.21.
