Women's and Men's Varsity Eight to Compete in San Diego Crew Classic this Weekend

San Diego, Calif. - Head Coach Paul Savell is taking his top men's and women's varsity eight to the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic. After this weekend's event, the Dragons will compete in a regatta for the next four consecutive weekends before the Dad Vail Regatta in May. The men's will begin their racing in San Diego on Saturday, April2 at 8:00 a.m. while the women's race at 8:10 a.m. Pacific.
The Drexel women's varsity eight will be rowing in the Marlene Buckley with coxswain Cate Khella, stroke Elizabeth Bratton, Alexa Antonioli, Julia Jackson, Mallory Sykes, Kayla Wroblesky, Juliana DeMarici, Casondra Clawson and bow Dana Haneman. The women will race against Stanford lightweight, Kansas State, San Diego State, Loyola, and Santa Clara in the first heat. The top two finishers will advance directly to the grand final. The third and fourth-place finishers move to the petite final, while the final two to cross the line will race in the third final.
The men's varsity eight will be coxed by Randall Lee with stroke Kurt Linton, Gregg Francis, Aleksandar Radovic , Lorenzo Albala, Michael Faust, Kyle Fabel, Timothy Drake and bow Jacob Sloan. The Vince Vidas boat will race against Oklahoma City, Washington State, USD, Minnesota, California lightweight and Arizona State in the third heat.
The third finals are scheduled in the afternoon on Saturday, while the grand and petite finals will all take place on Sunday, April 3.
