3/30/2011 6:05:56 PM | Women's Tennis
Philadelphia - Sonja Stosic, Emma Brook, Elise Leizerovich and Alex Bell all won in singles play to lead the Dragons to a 4-2 victory over their city rival Saint Joseph's on Wednesday. Drexel improves to 7-6 in dual match play with the victory. The match was ended after Drexel clinched in singles play due to impending inclement weather.
Emma Brook turned in the match-clinching victory over Tara Walsh at fourth singles 6-4, 6-3. Brook used some excellent late-match shot making to wear down Walsh, who double faulted on match point to hand Drexel the victory.
Sonja Stosic made quick work of Devi Jadeja, 6-1, 6-1 at second singles to give Drexel its second team point of the match. Freshman Alex Bell claimed the first point for Drexel with a straight-set blanking of Jenna Procyk at sixth singles. Leizerovich broke Kate Dowd in a 6-4 first set victory then polished her off with a 6-0 win in the second set for the team's third point of the match.
The Dragons return to the courts on April 8 when they travel to play their CAA rival the Delaware Blue Hens in a noon match.
