Drexel Looks to Defend Team Titles at 45th Annual Kerr Cup Regatta on Schuylkill

Philadelphia – Drexel crew will host the 45th annual Kerr Cup Regatta Saturday, April 16th on the Schuylkill River; races are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. The Dragons will look to defend both the men's and women's team titles as well as the women's varsity eight Lela Kerr Cup first place finish from last year's regatta. Drexel will enter 15 boats and will compete against 10 other universities in 18 races. 
 
The men's schedule begins at 10:10 a.m. when two eight-man shells launch for a chance at the men's title. Coxswain Randall Lee, stroke Kurt Linton, Gregg Francis, Aleksandar Radovic, Lorenzo Albala, Michael Faust, Kyle Fabel, Timothy Drake and bow Jacob Sloan will row out of lane two while coxswain Steven Matyas, stroke Filip Topalovic, Gregory Pierce, Anthony Fittipaldi, Brian Timlin, Kevin Rorabaugh, Milos Rujevic, Ernesto Del Valle and bow Nick Buyse will race the Annette Pennoni from lane six.
The men's novice eight will race at 10:30 a.m. in the Peggy Greenawalt with coxswain Marc Smith, stroke John Pieper, Vanja Busic, Sebastian Ryan, Marcus DeMarici, Ryan McSpedon, Steven Miner, Matthew Ryan and bow Ross Morris from lane one in the final eight-man shell race of the regatta.
The men's pair of stroke Liam O'Neill and bow Peter Schmidt will race in the Katherine Buckley at 10:40 a.m. followed by the men's varsity four A with coxswain Justin Malley, stroke Patrick McGann, Michael Golden, Will Masters and bow Paul Wisniowski racing the LeBow C.O.B from lane one at 11:00 a.m. The men's varsity four B will launch the Oxholm with coxswain Ashley Jordan, stroke John Luciani, Scott Nordsiek, Dylan Siegfried and bow Adam Cordi from lane six at 11:10 a.m. with the top three boats of each preliminary advancing to the finals at 1:20 p.m.
In the final preliminary races of the day, the men's freshman four A and B will race at 12:10 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. respectively. The top three boats from both races will advance to the finals at 2:10 p.m. The men's four B will launch the Oxholm in lane one with stroke John Pieper, Steven Miner, Ryan McSpedon and bow Ross Morris followed by the the men's four A in the LeBow C.O.B with coxswain Marc Smith, stroke Vanja Busic, Sebastian Ryan, Marcus DeMarici and bow Matthew Ryan from lane four at 12:30 p.m.

The women's varsity eight A with coxswain Cate Khella, stroke Elizabeth Bratton, Emily Coyle, Kayla Wroblesky, Alexa Antonioli, Julia Jackson, Mallory Sykes, Casondra Clawson and bow Dana Haneman will race from lane one while the Marlene Buckley with coxswain Alex Paulin, stroke Taylor Mondak, Asiya Mahmud, Colleen Owens, Megan Bush, Juliana DeMarici, Samantha Cowan, Mollie Cusack and bow Brooke Wertan row out of lane zero.
In the next women's race the novice eight will launch the Anne Marie with coxswain Kerry Walsh, stroke Amanda O'Malley, Colleen Delany, Caitlin Buser, Elizabeth Daugherty, Emily Barth, Alyssa Leahy, Sarah Mackenzie and bow Jackie Bender from lane three at 10:20 a.m.
The women's varsity fours will hit the water at 10:50 a.m. when the four A in the Sandra Lee Sheller with coxswain Caitlin Meehan, stroke Jillian Skovran, Chloe Swansen, Amanda Dargay and bow Brogan Piecara will race out of lane one while the women's varsity four B in the Dawn Byers with coxswain Dana Piccoli, stroke Natasha Martines, Elise Panacek, Kathy Cheng and bow Lillian Reed will row from lane six
The freshman fours will race next when the women's four A with coxswain Kerry Walsh, stroke Amanda O'Malley, Colleen Delany, Sarah Mackenzie and bow Elizabeth Daugherty launch the Sandra Lee Sheller from lane one at 11:40 a.m. while the women's four B races from lane six in the Dawn Byers with coxswain Dana Piccoli, stroke Natasha Martines, Elise Panacek, Kathy Cheng and bow Lillian Reed. Each race will advance the top three boats to the finals at 1:40 p.m.
