Drexel Field Hockey Continues Road Trip at VCU on Sunday

Philadelphia – Drexel Field Hockey continues its Colonial Athletic Association season schedule as the Dragons travel to Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday, September 25 at 12:00 p.m. Drexel outlasted James Madison, 4-3, after forced overtimes and strokes on Friday night. The Dragons are now 7-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Drexel enters the contest with a 2-2 record on the road this season.
Drexel leads the all-time series 8-6. Last season, Drexel scored three first-half goals and withstood VCU's attack in the second half to defeat the Rams, 3-1. Susan Ciufo scored a pair of goals while Christina Mastropaolo notched the game-winner. VCU outshot the Dragons, 11-0, in the final period.
The Rams dropped to 2-7 after falling to Towson, 3-1, in their conference opener on Friday. VCU's picked up wins against Appalachian State and Davidson. Junior forward Kelsey Scherrer leads the team with three goals and two assists for eight points. Teammate Arialle Hess also tallied three goals. Senior goalkeeper Erin Jablonski has made 33 stops on the season.
