Overtime Winner Nets 1-0 Victory for Men's Soccer at Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. - Nathan Page collected his team-leading fifth goal of the season nearly five minutes into overtime as the Drexel men's soccer team moved to 4-1 in Colonial Athletic Association play, winning 1-0 in a tense, tightly-played match at George Mason. Only six shots went on goal between the two squads in the defensive battle, as Drexel won in extra time for the second time this season.
Until Page's score, the Drexel defense was the star of the contest, keeping the Patriots from registering so much as a shot on goal until the 85th minute. Then, senior goalkeeper Tim Washam faced two shots in the final five minutes of regulation, making two crucial saves to send the game to overtime.
Page had four of the Dragons' 10 shots, including three that tested Mason goalkeeper Dustin Butcher. Butcher, who has led his team to an 8-4-0 (1-3) record this season, had three total saves.
One of Page's shots came just moments before his ultimate game-winning goal. As the Dragons did on Saturday against UNCW, they were able to capitalize on a rebound and put the ball home. Page's shot was stopped by Butcher, but not controlled by the Patriots as Page kept charging towards the net, getting the ball back on his foot and poking it beyond the keeper for the winner.
Five of the Dragons' eight wins this season have been one-goal affairs.
Drexel will continue its road swing on Saturday when they visit Towson for a morning game at 11:00 a.m.
